Clarke's feat helps Australia close in on India

2nd Test, Day 3 - Sydney: India are 114/2 and still trail by 354

He was more of the same to what now is officially a disastrous first half of India's test series Down Under.

The scuffle that has received at the hands of Australians not only left even their most diehard fans without words, but also raised serious concerns about the near future. If a team that prides itself on a number of all time greats can suffer this farce what happens when they are no longer around?

At the end of the three-day India were 114/2, still losing by 354 and in need of a two-day vigil at the crease to save this game. A triple century majestic Captain Michael Clarke further cemented Australia's plans against the Indians. Clarke surprised everyone when he declared Australia's first innings in 659-4, exactly half a day (and matching). Michael Hussey had just completed 150 and Australia had amassed a daunting lead of 468. Clarke effort of an unbeaten 329 could also passed to overcome Lara's 400 (the largest individual ever test score), but then Aussie masters are known there are dramatic statements promoting the cause of team about yourself.

The Indian broadcaster to travel from India to Australia had billed the confrontation as the series of ' Agneepath ', named after a popular Hindi film of 1990 where the protagonist (or hero, as we like to call it) sets out to avenge evil done against him by any means he sees fit. Maybe was inspired by India's previous tour down under in 2007-08, where India felt lost a series that could have designed (due to their mistakes and the opposition play an unfair game). Unfortunately, the promotions that are still running now seem but a farce in nature. Not only have India was defeated this time around, but in this series have only if at fault. They are turned into his own villain in this contest.

Aussies still rule

When India came out in the field today you could see a slight change in his attitude indifferent on Wednesday. They tried to build pressure with several fielders inside the circle. Ishant Sharma bowled a fine line to Michael Clarke at the outset. Dhoni seemed to have heard a bit of advice the world was giving him and decided to bring some defenders closing in. Packed on the outside, when Michael Hussey was batting and tried to stifle the opposition for some time. Executions came hard in the first hour of play, but still there was no way any sort of India nearby. Ishant was seen even share your situation with the referee.

It didn't take long for the scenario change. Soon, runs began leaking all over the ground. Clarke began breaking a record in a few minutes – first crossing the highest score by an Australian captain, then get confirmation from the crowd "pink day" to pass the individual scoring more than SCG and followed naturally with great honour to reach their triple hundreds.

Hussey shared the limelight, adding your name to the list of Centurions. His 334-run partnership with Clarke was a masterclass in dominant position. His strokeplay was impressive and nothing did resemble the fading star he was being made to be less than a month ago.

Fight for survival

In response, Gautam Gambhir came out looking like a batter completely different. He started with some good shots on the point and then ran ahead of driving directly and through skins. Garmin Sehwag was out just four when a flash family was plucked from nothing by a diving David Warner.

Dravid and Gambhir together a partnership which looked respectable because none of them missed an opportunity to check. Gambhir moved to his half century, while total India crossed the 100-run mark just before the defenses of Dravid once again came undone, this time when he was on 29. Hilfenhaus managed to sneak into a handoff between his bat and pad and he was bowled – a worrying the third time in four innings.

It was only after the resignation of Dravid that Gambhir began to look nervous, again flirting with his bat away from your body. When in 65, he gave a chance with a thick edge falling short of Clarke on the first consignment. Cheekily Ganguly (in the comment box at the time) pointed out how unlike 2008, this time Clarke accepted that the ball did not carry. Some about later goalkeeper Brad Haddin fell Gambhir after another boost took an outside edge and spelt danger.

The entries of Tendulkar not out 8 (off 42 balls) was characterized by attempts to block and hold up your end. Whenever he tried to do this in the past the result almost always was his getting bogged down and fired shortly after. He was always better to play shots that is his natural game and the only way it can stay in the Middle without prob
