West Indies vs India, 2nd ODI

After 50 overs West Indies 240 / 9 (22 * Sammy, Martin 0 *)

A mighty Flat Six on the long off fielder Sammy and a scrambled single next ball brings West Indies to the 240 mark, not a bad effort that they were 197 for 7. It is a fair comeback and the Windies have something to bowl. Do they have a chance against the Indian batting line? Time will say so, get lunch and back us 40 minutes to close, and together we will find out.

After 48.4 overs: West Indies 229 / 9 (15 * Sammy; Bishoo c P Patel b M Patel 0)

Wicket! Bishoo trying to pull the shot out of a DAB of Patel, but was declared caught behind by Peter Nero. I'm not sure about that one, but the replay to conclude. Eight balls left.

After 48.1 overs: West Indies 228 / 8 (14 * Sammy, Rampaul 1c M Raina b Patel 4)

Wicket! Another batsman bites the dust. Rampaul Windies need to stay there, but he did not keep the ball on the ground. Tried to go for the big heave, and Raina's hands at deep mid on. Bishoo is the number ten bat.

After 47 overs West Indies 221 / 7 (12 * Sammy, Rampaul 9 *)

The crowd grew a bit and appreciate Ravi Rampaul's Gusto, with two boundaries off Harbhajan, a widish to mid-wicket, and one down the leg side. Sammy has also raised his hand for the fight, beating Praveen Kumar for a big six over mid-wicket. If they can get to maybe 140, maybe West Indies have a fighting total.

After 44 overs West Indies 197 / 7 (DJ Bravo c Harbhajan [long off] b Mishra 8, Baugh b Mishra 2)

Wicket! Here is a familiar face ... Windies wickets and four fast slides, as India cut through their middle order. Offset by the power play. Bravo tries to hit Mishra inside and out, and gets the ball as far as Harbhajan to long off. Sammy comes to replace him. Baugh then gets a ball thrown everything ends later to play for the turn with a straighter ball. Mishra will not have to get his hat-trick, with Ravi Rampaul come in and defend the first ball.

After 41.3 overs: West Indies 192 / 5 (6 * DJ Bravo, Pollard LBW Mishra 0)

Wicket! Pollard has no time to settle, and he gets sent on his way. He tried to wipe the court of Mishra, and was first path. He has been distributed, with about perhaps the only problem, if any. Still, Hawkeye suggests that the Summit would have hit off-stump. He has to go, and he is replaced by Carlton Baugh Jr, the wicket-keeper.

After 41 overs West Indies 192 / 4 (Sarwan c Yusuf [mid-wicket] b Patel 56, DJ Bravo 6 *)

Wicket! Other West Indies batsman betrays his wicket. Sarwan was the ball past the man can not get at gully, played his first five deliveries to the fielder. The sixth, a high full toss, he swings right into the arms of Pathan at mid-wicket. His affinity for the pull shot as he was in again. Hometown Hero and is in Queen's Park batsman Kieron Pollard to lusty applause ...

After 39 overs West Indies 189 / 3 (Sarwan 54 *, DJ Bravo 5 *)

Another good over for the West Indies. Sarwan brings his 50, the Guyanese batsman vital cog in Windies innings so far, allowing the other batsmen to bat around him. He received his monument with an attractive drive through mid-wicket for four.

After 36 overs West Indies 175 / 3 (Sarwan 46 *, Samuels st P Patel b Pathan 36)

Wicket! Samuels gave away his hand after playing so well, with nearly 50 Sarwan. Poor cricket at that time he had 13 off that over, including a huge six down the ground and a nice ride for four people. Pathan drew him down the ground with the person who spun away, Patel, and removed the brackets. Dwayne Bravo is the number 5 batsman.

After 34 overs: Western Ineids 154 / 2 (Sarwan 77 *, 17 * Samuels)

Drinks! Good recovery after the loss of Simmons. West Indies 150 comes in the 34th over, a beautiful straight past the bowler, captain Raina, Munaf Patel to long on the beat of the border. It is time for a drink and a very short break, but the regional team have really done well at this stage to carry out what they do not do for two days. Still 16 overs to go, but this may just be a more competitive total. Something around 250-260 is possible with Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard has to bat, and it will provide an interesting match if they can reach that total.

After 30 overs West Indies 136 / 2 (Sarwan 38 *, Samuels 5 *)

Shear for Samuels. He folds one down the leg side, and the fielder at leg slip can grab the ball with his outstretched right hand. But it was certainly catch-able. Sarwan, now edges closer to that 50, he is already facing 59 balls.

After 26.5 overs: West Indies 123 / 2 (Simmons st P Patel b Pathan 53, Sarwan 31 *)

Wicket! What a tragedy for the West Indies, and happiness for India. Simmons seemed to have lost his concentration, and Pashtun pulled him forward. The batter can not connect, and he keeps flapping like a fish without water, his bat at least one foot in the crease. Marlon Samuels to come, but that was a big blow to the regional team that appeared in the middle.

After 24.2 overs: West Indies 115 / 1 (Simmons 50 *, Sarwan 26 *)

A lot has happened in the last three or soovers. West Indies reached their 100 in the 21th with a few short third man Simmons and Simmons planted Pathan down the ground for a six-cylinder knife, before playing a single to long on a well-played half a century. Harbhajan is back on and test a second bowling spell, including a girl in the 23rd.

After 20 overs West Indies 96 / 1 (Simmons 40 *, Sarwan 18 *)

West Indies have really improved from two days ago. It is early days still, but they are running the strike and putting away the bad balls, play the odd sweep shot, in all areas of their batting that had been missing from the first encounter. Change in the bowling now, the spin-off oxthodox Yusuf Pathan replaces leg-break from Amit Mishra.

After 17.1 overs West Indies 85 / 1 (Simmons 35 *, Sarwan 12 *)

RAIN BREAK! Oh dear. I would have spoken a bit too early. The sun disappeared faster than you could say 'Jack Sprat', and the clouds flew in and took over. Can not for long, as the covers were called in, then out ...

After 17 overs West Indies 84 / 1 (Simmons 35 *, Sarwan 11 *)

Drinks! The usual dust and paint for the pitch, the sun with a thud on the field, with some clouds looming on the eastern side of the ground. That's usually the direction of the rains, but hopefully we won 't have to find out how big a threat could be. There is a real crowd Wednesday for the game despite the loss Windies on Monday. The batsmen would be satisfied with their efforts ... In the previous match, it took 31 overs to get into triple digits.

After 15 overs West Indies 76 / 1 (Simmons 34 *, Sarwan 4 *)

West Indies with a bit of fighting, Sarwan finally getting off the mark with a sweetly timed drive through cover point for four off Harbhajan. Simmons stumps following about Mishra for six over mid-wicket. India react by swapping "Bhaji" for Munaf Patel. Harbhajan is a bit expensive, going for 23 runs in his first two overs, including ten pictures of WIDE leg side.

After 12.1 overs West Indies 57 / 1 (Simmons 25 *, Edwards wk c P Patel b Mishra 25)

Wicket! Ohh, a disappointing end to a promising start, and India strike first blow. Edwards jus leaned his club in the delivery outside offstump and would have gotten the slightest edge to the keeper. Good ball from Mishra, drawing the batsman into a false stroke. Enters Ramnaresh Sarwan, innings top-scorer in the first game. West Indies need him to repeat, or better yet, the feat.

After 11 overs West Indies 45 / 0 (Simmons 25 *, 18 * Edwards)

It is not easy, but the Windies struggling, in an attempt to rotate the strike more than they did in the last game. Harbhajan was about to come to test them, though. Yet we have seen some pretty far away from Simmons.

NOTE: I have the squads below for your information.

 After 8 overs: West Indies 33 / 0 (17 * Simmons, Edwards 16 *)

It is a fair start for the West Indies, similar to the first ODI. No wicket down yet, but the Pacers Munaf Patel and Praveen Kumar are good bowling.

But Simmons and Edwards are starting to get in step, it is interesting from here on in. India concern problems of the Windies again trying to spin, and Amit Mishra will bowl for the ninth.

Welcome to Queen's Park Oval for the second Digicel Pearls ODI between West Indies and India.

The visitors won the toss and inserting the regional team.

The pitch looks like it will again provide a challenge for the batsmen, the sun is out and shining bright, the crowd is small, but the fans steadily trickling in.

There is some cloud cover over the Oval, but hopefully not too much influence the cricket.

I give you the squads in just a moment.
