2009 IPL auction were rigged, claims Lalit Modi

Former Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Lalit Modi claimed Tuesday that Lalit Modi to actress Preety Zinta during her reign as Chairman2009 IPL players' auction was "manipulated" to benefit the Chennai Super Kings franchise owned by Cement India, which is directed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president N. Srinivasan.
Modi, the IPL was creators, said the rules were bent to allow the former All-England Andrew Flintoff remains with the Super Kings. He also accepted his guilt of not going against the changes that favored selected teams.

"The auction was rigged Flintoff. All players should return to the auction after the first three years, but it did not. I was arm-twisted into allowing Flintoff to stay with the team from Chennai," said Modi, who was suspended by BCCI after the edition of 2010 and has since lived in London.

Four players from each franchise marquee were allowed to be retained after the end of the third edition, 2010. Modi said the restraint clause was not his idea.

"The clause of retention was not my idea. I had created a level playing field," he said.

Modi said that the current rules favor "some powerful members of the BCCI" who hold a stake in IPL teams.

"The rules were changed to favor some powerful members of the BCCI. If you adjust the model along the path that will fail. There is no level playing field in today's IPL. There is a lack of transparency now. Many wanted to be part of the game after it became a success, "he said.

Modi claimed that he wanted Pakistani cricketers to play in IPL after the first edition, but all franchises "were told not to bid for them at auction." In the game played Pakistan in IPL Highlights from the 2008 edition.

Commenting on the Sahara India ending its sponsorship contract with the BCCI and removed from the IPL, Modi said that the current model will not work since it favors some teams and not players.

"This model will not work. You have to keep the players in mind. There are things that are being made by the BCCI in the long run will hurt Indian cricket."

Modi had tweeted: "termination Sahara - shows how unhappy the major sponsor and owner of the franchise business is with the way BCCI with its partners This is really a sad day Sahara was the biggest supporter of sports and pillar ..."

Pakistan clarifies confusion over Ajmal's bowling

Pakistan cricket authorities and the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday clarified the confusion over Saeed Ajmal bowling action, saying that the spinner had been cleared within the specified limits.
Ajmal has created even more confusion, claiming that he has special dispensation from the ICC to straighten the arm beyond the allowed 15 degrees.

The 34-year-old off-spinner who took 24 wickets in the 3-0 Test series whitewash of England, said the ICC allowed him clemency extra, up to 23.5 degrees.

According to ICC rules a player can only straighten the arm to 15 degrees, and that his action is illegal.

"I do not know about my bowling action, but someone was telling me that his action is bad. CHF 23.5 allowed me because my arm is not good because of an accident, so it is a problem," said Ajmal BBC television on Monday after being declared man-of-the-series.

"Otherwise, no problem, once cleared by the ICC."

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said Ajmal was referring to the extension of the elbow, not your arm. "Ajmal was referring to the abduction angle of the elbow that is, the angle of the arm to the forearm and not the degree of elbow extension. This angle is approximately 23 degrees in the case of Ajmal," the PCB said in a statement .

"The ICC tolerance level of 15 degrees is related to the degree of elbow extension that is allowed in the bowling action ie the amount by which the arm is right," he added.

Said PCB in the previous tests carried out on the action of Ajmal showed that the degree of extension of the elbow is well within the ICC tolerance levels.

ICC general manager of cricket David Richardson also supported the position of the PCB. "There's a difference between the angle of the elbow carry (abduction of the elbow) and the degree of elbow extension. There is nothing that prevents a player bowling with a bent arm, since he did not straighten it beyond the degrees of permitted tolerance, "said Richardson.

Pakistan won the third and final Test here by 71 runs.

Ajmal bowling action was reported by umpires during a one-day series against Australia here in 2009 before he was released after the repair work by experts, once again came under suspicion after his career-best 7-55 in the first test, also played in Dubai.

Former England paceman Bob Willis raised suspicions about his 'doosra' (a second) - a ball that turns the other than a normal off-break - while the England coach Andy Flower said he has his own opinion and left the matter to the ICC.

But after a complaint about Ajmal relaxation, Flower on Tuesday expressed surprise. "If this is the degree, then there is a problem, Flower said, when asked about Ajmal claim of special dispensation." This is ridiculous. "

"This is an issue of the ICC, however. They are there to police the game and make sure that it is played within the rules, then they have to examine their action. We all have our own views, but the our job is to fight who is put against us, and part of it is also to play the game with the right spirit. "

Pakistan recall Malik after Misbah intervention

Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik was removed from the squad for the limited overs series against England only to be drawn back to the installation hours later, after a request from the captain Misbah-ul-Haq on Tuesday.

Malik struggles on the tours of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh took the axing of the pack test in UAE and selectors once again ignored before the intervention of Misbah.

"At the request of Pakistan team captain Misbah-ul-Haq, the national selection committee has pledged to send Malik to join the squad for the ODI and T20 matches," Pakistan Cricket Board statement said.

All-round Shahid Afridi however returned to the team a day after Pakistan completed a 3-0 Test whitewash over England.

Hammad Azam handed batter who played the last of their five one-dayers against Ireland in May 2011, was named in both ODI and Twenty20 squads.

The first-Dayer is scheduled for February 13 in Abu Dhabi and four-match series will be followed by three Twenty20 International on February 23, 25 and 27.

"We selected a team that is a mixture of experienced and young players. We also called an expert one day and Twenty20 and players like Hammad Awais Zia," chief selector Mohammad Illyas Reuters.

"The team won the test series comprehensively. But England is a top team and there is more work to be done in one day series."

Uncapped Zia, the only new face in the Twenty20 squad, is a wicketkeeper-opener that was rewarded by scoring heavily in the format.

Afridi, who quit Test cricket, was confident Pakistan would replicate their success Test against England in the limited over series.

"I think after the way they swept the series of tests that we are in a good position morally and psychologically to also win the one day series," Afridi told reporters.

Pakistan one-day squad:

Misbah-ul-Haq (captain), Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Imran Farhat, Younus Khan, Umar Akmal, Asad Shafique, Azhar Ali, Adnan Akmal, Hammad Azam, Shahid Afridi, Umar Gul, Junaid Khan, Aizaz Cheema, Wahab Riaz Saeed Ajmal and Abdul Rehman.

Twenty 20 Squad:

Misbah-ul-Haq (captain), Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Imran Farhat, Oval Zia, Umar Akmal, Asad Shafique, Adnan Akmal, Hammad Azam, Shahid Afridi, Umar Gul, Junaid Khan, Aizaz Cheema, Wahab Riaz, Saeed Ajmal and Abdul Rehman.

Ajmal creates confusion over bowling action

Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal on Tuesday created more confusion about his bowling action, claiming that he has special dispensation from the body governing the game to straighten the arm beyond the allowed 15 degrees.

Pakistan cricket team management said Ajmal was authorized by the ICC to the extent permitted and they will issue a clarification soon. The ICC was also due to issue its response on the matter soon.

England players miss out on IPL

It is one of five cricketers of England today on sale at IPL auction were sold. The only players from the England squad today, which will play in the fifth season of the IPL are Kevin Pietersen - who was transferred to the Delhi Daredevils to a reported U.S. $ 2 million - Eoin Morgan, who is part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad and Stuart Broad , which was bought by Kings XI Punjab in 2011.

James Anderson, Matt Prior, Graeme Swann, Ian Bell and Ravi Bopara not attract any bids. Chris Tremlett had been listed in the auction, but withdrew after flying home from England's tour of the UAE with an injury.

The news will be welcomed by administration of England, who wanted the maximum time for the England players to rest after the tour of Sri Lanka, ending on April 7, and prepare for the start of the international summer, which begins at 17 May against West Indies in. Mr.

Anderson hoped to use the IPL to press its request for a recall to the England side ahead of the Twenty20 World Twenty20 in September, but its base price of $ 300,000 was too much to attract some interest. He last played Twenty20 cricket in England in 2009 and talked about players not being given more opportunities to develop their skills T20.

Pietersen was transferred to the adventurers of the Deccan Chargers before the auction. He will join India batsman Virender Sehwag and David Warner of Australia for the fifth season of the IPL. He was first signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009 to $ 1,550,000, but when the players re-auctioned in 2011, saw its price drop Pietersen to $ 650,000. Morgan, on the other hand, saw its price rise in the auction of 2011, when the Knight Riders bought him for $ 350,000. He had been the only England player to be handed a new contract before the 2010 season, when the Royal Challengers hired for $ 220,000. Broad was bought for $ 400,000 in Kings XI in 2011.
